Since 2019, it is estimated that he has been earning a remarkable $9 million per year.
KSI’s commercial prosperity is in no way a surprising phenomenon. Given his substantial online following of over 24 million subscribers on YouTube, multiple number-one singles, and victories in high-stake boxing matches, it’s evident that he has mastered the art of leveraging his fame into financial success. Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, better known as KSI, helms the executive seat at Misfits Boxing and co-owns Prime Hydration with Logan Paul, another YouTube sensation. His diverse business portfolio extends to holdings in the XIX Vodka brand and a thriving restaurant chain known as Sides.

He inaugurated his primary YouTube channel in 2009, initially focusing on gaming commentary videos inspired by FIFA matches. Over time, he expanded his content offerings to include an array of comedic and entertaining videos.
When he began earning a steady income from his video uploads, KSI made the bold decision to leave school to focus on his burgeoning YouTube career. This choice was fueled by the realization that his monthly earnings surpassed his teacher’s salary, a clear indicator of the immense potential his channel held.
Today, KSI’s personal YouTube channel boasts more than 24 million subscribers and over 5 billion video views. In total, his three YouTube channels have garnered over 34 million subscribers and an astounding 8 billion views.
In addition to his success on YouTube, KSI is a co-founder and member of the popular British YouTube group, the Sidemen. His ventures also extend into the music industry, with his debut studio album, “Dissimulation”, released in 2020, ranking second on the UK Albums Chart. His follow-up album, “All Over The Place”, managed to reach the number one spot. He has charted 14 top 40 singles on the UK Singles Chart, with seven cracking the top 10 and five reaching the top 5.
KSI’s sphere of influence isn’t limited to the digital and music worlds. In 2016, he appeared in the British comedy film “Laid in America” and had a documentary titled “KSI: Can’t Lose” produced about him in 2018. This documentary provided an in-depth look into the lead-up to his first amateur boxing match against fellow British YouTuber Joe Weller.
KSI has also participated in two boxing events against American YouTuber Logan Paul, with the second bout being a professional one. In 2022, he further demonstrated his prowess in the ring by engaging in two professional crossover boxing bouts against Mexican boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda and British rapper Swarmz, both held on the same night.
Exploring KSI’s Financial Journey and Philanthropy
With a portfolio that spans numerous industries and ventures, KSI’s financial journey is indeed a fascinating one. As per Forbes’ report, he grossed over $4.5 million in 2015, earning him the title of the world’s fifth highest-paid YouTuber for that year.
In 2018, KSI’s significant influence in the digital landscape enabled him to earn as much as £250,000 in advertising revenue from a single video, and his social media endorsements were priced around £75,000. As per reports, he was the director of three UK companies, with combined equity worth an impressive £1.7 million.
Business Insider revealed that KSI’s amateur boxing match against Logan Paul resulted in an approximate pay-per-view revenue of £8.5 million, complemented by live gate revenue from ticket sales surpassing £2.7 million. Unverified reports suggested a potential earning of £30 million for the night; however, KSI refuted these estimates, asserting that his earnings fell short of these speculative figures.
In the subsequent rematch with Logan Paul in 2019, it was disclosed that KSI was contracted to earn a minimum amount of $900,000. Beyond his YouTube and boxing ventures, KSI’s portfolio extends to the real estate market. In a conversation with Men’s Health, KSI revealed ownership of over ten properties throughout England, collectively valued at over £10 million.
According to estimates by The Sunday Times, KSI earned £12 million in 2020, and his earnings increased by an additional £13 million the following year.
KSI and Sidemen
Since 2013, KSI has been an integral part of the British YouTube group, ‘Sidemen,’ known for their engaging content encompassing challenges, sketches, and video-game commentary. The group ventured into merchandise in 2014, selling exclusive Sidemen apparel. They further diversified their offerings by publishing a book titled “Sidemen: The Book” in 2016, which sold 26,436 copies within just three days.
Despite announcing his departure from the group due to conflicts with fellow member, Ethan Payne, in 2017, and subsequently releasing diss tracks against the group members, KSI later clarified that his fallout with Sidemen was partly fabricated.
In 2021, Sidemen launched a subscription service, Side+, and expanded into the hospitality and liquor industry with the introduction of a restaurant chain called ‘Sides’ and a vodka brand ‘XIX Vodka.’
Launching Prime Hydration with Logan Paul
In an intriguing turn of events, KSI, in 2022, announced that he had partnered with Logan Paul, his former adversary, to found a hydration company called ‘Prime.’ Following the announcement, Prime Hydration emerged as the NASCAR sponsor for Timmy Hill’s #13 car and later became the official hydration partner of English Premier League club, Arsenal F.C. The club’s Chief Commercial Officer lauded Prime as an exciting and forward-thinking brand with products and founders who are trailblazers in contemporary culture.
KSI’s Philanthropic Contributions

He also participated in the ‘Race Against Slime’ event, raising funds for SpecialEffect, an organization developing gaming technology for individuals with physical disabilities.
Together with his Sidemen colleagues, KSI has been involved in three charity football events over the years, raising money for several charities including the Charlton Athletic Community Trust, Saint’s Foundation, Childline, and Young Minds.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022, KSI aided a food bank to support The Independent’s ‘Help the Hungry’ campaign. He prepared meals for the Evening Standard’s ‘Food for London Now’ campaign and donated £10,000 to BBC Radio 1’s ‘Lol-a-thon’ fundraiser. As part of a public health initiative, KSI signed an open letter penned by Lenny Henry, urging Black British people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Navigating Controversy and Celebrating Achievements: KSI’s Career Journey
KSI’s highly public career, marked by a confluence of success and controversy, is nothing short of remarkable. Notably, in 2012 and 2013, he faced backlash for a recurring ‘rape-face’ joke that featured prominently on his channel. In 2012, a Eurogamer event propelled KSI into the limelight for the wrong reasons when third-party allegations of sexual harassment of female staff were leveled against him. KSI was specifically accused of sexually assaulting spokesmodel Brandy Brewer, although she later clarified that she had given her consent.
The fallout from this controversy led Microsoft to sever ties with KSI, and he was subsequently barred from Eurogamer events. Following a 15-month delay, KSI issued an apology for any offense his video might have caused during its tenure on his YouTube channel and expressed a wish to move past the incident.
In terms of accolades, KSI’s career has garnered significant recognition. He was awarded the Diamond Creator Award at the YouTube Creator Awards in 2016. Further bolstering his accolade portfolio, he was crowned Vlogger of the Year at the prestigious NME Awards.
KSI’s musical endeavors have not gone unnoticed, either. In 2020, his track “Lighter” clinched the Best Song award at the Amazon Music UK awards. The same song earned him a nomination for Best British Single at the BRIT Awards, further solidifying his status as a successful multi-platform personality.
